How we carry out the phosphate plating process

The phosphate plating process, generally consisting of applying a phosphate layer on steel, is started by degreasing the details. We do it using a special liquid with a high pH level. Next, we eliminate rust and sands by bathing in hydrochloric or sulfuric acid (both having a very low pH level). Then we go to the so-called activation and the essential phosphating process. After applying the layer, we can protect it in an additional way, for example with oil.

Why is it worth to use the phosphate coatings

The effect of the phosphate plating is to obtain a matte gray anti-corrosive coating. Due to the fact that it is a soft coating, the coefficient of friction decreases. For this reason, the application of a phosphate layer often precedes powder painting. The service is used, among others, by representatives of the automotive and construction industries.

The phosphate layer may also be soaped due to the porosity. Such a coating facilitates the subsequent cold extrusion process.
